Jamboree 2002
Finally we experienced what everybody at the Summer Courses talked about! BEST Jamboree took place in a summer-camp-style location in the outskirts of Zagreb(Croatia). Because it was quite close to Vienna, we managed to get four of our active members there and we tried our BEST to represent Austria in its fullest glory ("Heeey Baby" and Stroh).
This had to be the biggest BEST event ever. With 400 students from all around Europe, there were plenty of opportunities to meet new people and old friends. Even though we were only a minority among the many participants we managed to make a lasting impression.
As Jamboree is an event especially for new members, the focus is on getting to know how BEST works. Therefore case studies on organising courses, workshops with experienced BESTies, team-design competitions and training sessions were offered. Session topics included: rhetoric and presentation skills and meeting structure.
It wouldn't have been a BEST event without a fantastic social program! The country presentations and big parties concluded the days in a relaxed atmosphere. The highlight was of course the International Party, with a 50 m long buffet of drinks and food from all represented countries (such as French cheese, Hungarian wine, Spanish sangria, Swedish fish and Belgian sweets to name just a few. Jamboree 2002 was a great experience but the next event is coming soon. In the end of March a Regional Meeting will take place in Ljubljana.
