What is it all about?

Challenge, Teamwork, Technical Task, Fun, Creativity - that's what an BEST Engineering Competition is about. It is an event in which teams of students use their technical, social and communication skills to complete a specific task.
Under given conditions (time, situation, materials, etc.) teams of engineering students compete to deliver the highest possible quality in terms of performance, cost and innovation.
The outcome of the competition is a device that has to perform the needed actions to solve the problem.
Creativity, adaption and imagination are the key factors to face this challenge.
And of course you can win a lot of cool prizes!

When?

5th to 7th of March 2009

Brief overview of the schedule:

• Welcome Evening - Thursday, 5th of March, 18:00
• Working day 1      - Friday, 6th of March
• Working day 2 &   - Saturday, 7th of March
  Winner announcement 
• Afterparty             - Saturday, 7th of March 2009, 21:00
  

Where?

At the Vienna University of Technology (Karlsplatz 13, 1040 Vienna)

Fee?

It's free. Participants don't pay anything. They will be provided with all materials needed as well as with food and drinks (which means you get free lunch and dinner during the event).

General information about participation

You can register as a team, consisting of up to 4 persons. If for any reasons, you want to apply alone, then you will be assigned a place in a team formed by us. If in your team there are less then 4 people, we will assign the missing number of persons to your team. In any way, you will be in a team of 4 persons ;-)

But please be aware, that there are only limited places, so be quick!

How to participate?

You can apply alone or with your friends but not more than 4 studendts can apply as one team. If you are less than 4 people don't worry about that, we'll find someone to complete your team. Write a mail to pia.liszt@BEST.eu.org or bernhard.winkler@BEST.eu.org.
The mail should contain the following informations:

• teamname
• name and email adress of each of the four or less teammembers
• name, email adress and mobilephone number of the teamleader
  

The application deadline has already passed but we still have some extra places. So if you want to participate just try and send a mail.

Benefits:

• Of course we have great great prizes for each team and really cool prizes for the winners.
• You will get a certificate from the university about your participation at this event (HTL students)
  
• You will experience two days of fun, teamwork and handicraft work as well as get to know a glimpse of BEST spirit.
• The winner-team can take part in the Central European Engineering Competition, which will take place in May 2009, in Vienna.
